Felt Up

Today, I got felt up and it couldn't feel any better. Say, hello to my Felt B12, full carbon triathlon bike. My baby and I will have lots of time to get to know one another. However, I have to wait for the weather to break before I dare take this bike outside. The other unfortunate issue is that I can't ride it on my indoor trainer. Luckily, I can use my aluminum training bike. Now, I have three bikes sitting around my apartment. Plus, all my other training gear.

In the Mood

It's not what you think. Seriously. I've committed myself to run several races this year. The first one is an extreme triathlon. Meaning, I'm going to swim 1.5 miles down the New River, cover 7-8 miles over trails while climbing a 1000 ft, and then to finish it all off, you get to do 11 miles of single track mountain biking. This race should be fun. Hopefully, they'll open the registration for this June race soon.

Afterwards, I get to lick my wounds for a month before I get to test myself like never before. I've signed up for a half iron distance triathlon in Morgantown. For those who are wondering, this is a 1.2 mile swim (harder because a river won't be helping me swim), 56 mile bike over the mountains of West Virginia and a nice 13.1 mile jog to finish off the event. My goal is to finish in less than 6.5 hours.

Next, I should have a fun time in the August heat running the half marathon in my current hometown of Parkersburg. If I can find another half marathon locally, I do to prep me for my last major race of the year. I'm going to end the year by running in the Chicago marathon. I've got a reminder to set up on my computer to sign up tomorrow.

So, I'm quite busy at the moment. I'm spending nearly 1.5 to 2 hours a days training. I usually give myself a break every 8 days. Hopefully, I'll get to up training 14-16 hours a week. This regiment should help me get through the half triathlon with minimal pain. My biggest fear is injury through this long competitive season. Also, I have to avoid over training, which of course will lead to injury.

Broken in Record Time

So my $1200 desktop that I assembled this past August has failed me. I think it's the motherboard, but I'm still trouble shooting it with the manufacturer. In the end, I'm sure that they'll deny me a replacement mobo and I'll be stuck purchasing a new one. Ugh. Now you might be wondering what I'm typing on now. I'm not using my Dell Latitude from work. Instead, I'm using my new Dell XPS 1330. There was a fantastic offer from work on one, so I purchased my laptop a little earlier than I wanted. Since my little beast desktop is broke, I'm quite happy that I have this lappy. So, what's inside, you thinking. Well, this XPS is 13.3 inches, LED back light display, 2.2 GHz Core2 Duo with 3 gigs of ram, 160HD @ 7200 RPM, a 128 meg 8400 GS graphics card, bluetooth, n-wireless, and some decent software (Adobe Premiere and Photoshop Elements). I just received this computer this afternoon, but by this evening I had to re-image the harddrive. Yes, I broke my computer in less than 12 hours. I think it was because I was installing a new virtual drive and somehow during installation it corrupted a system file. I couldn't boot up in safe mode for Windows. Oh, what a pain.

Well, I'm happy now because it's re-imaged and it's working better now. Hopefully, it won't puke on me. Later

Holy Cow

Okay, a business quarter has passed since the last time I wrote on my blog. I'm not really sure why I haven't written here. It's not like I don't have time. Well, I really don't have that much time. I won't bother writing all the nuances of the past four months. Instead, I'd rather look forward to 2008. Hmmm... outlooks kinda fuzzy. Other than work my little butt off, I'm trying to get motivated to do some serious racing this year. I would like to do a Nissan Xterra triathlon, a half ironman distance triathlon, and a marathon (Chicago). Plus, I would like to defend my fastest in Wood county title. Ha~ I'll keep focus on the more important races.

Another goal I have is to read this collection of books I purchased last year in Conshohocken for $2. The list includes War and Peace, Anna Karenin, Moby Dick, Les Miserables, and Don Quixote. If I get half of the books read I'll be amazed with myself. Hmm...is it strange to make a goal and then lower it within 10 seconds? Luckily, my work ethic isn't this shoddy. Or is it?

The only other thing on my brain right now is how sweating I am at this moment. I just got back from running. It's a balmy 25F outside. Now, I'm questioning my sanity on why I had to write in my blog right after coming in from a run. Also, I want to get a new cell phone. Plus, I think the MacBookAir is a beautiful piece of junk. It's like a trophy wife- beautiful, but utterly impractical and mostly useless. However, if anyone is willing to donate me $3K to get one, I would think more of you; well, until I accidentally forget about you.
