Michigan, What the Hell!?!?!
I'm not sure what to say. I'm flabbergasted. Michigan lost in one of the poorest officiated game I've ever seen. No offense to smaller conferences but these guys from the Southern Conference or whatever don't know what the hell they're doing ou there on the field. Plus, the jackass in the replay booth needed people to tell him to review plays. Ummm....I guess he didn't get the memo about his job description - review close plays. Michigan pissed away two crucial time outs to get the booth to review calls. Now, I'm not saying that Nebraska didn't deserve to win. Michigan was in control for a large portion of the game and then did the usual Michigan I get weak in my knees drill and fell apart. Unfortunately, their performance in this game summarizes how they played most of the season. Hey, since I'm in Michigan right now I can listen to the Michigan Radio broadcast and hear fans lambast Coach Carr and his team. Boy, it'll be a doozy.
The craziest thing about the game was at the end of the game where Henne made this pass and Michigan tried their best impersonation of the Cal Miracle that occured long ago. It almost succeeded. Well, hats off to Michigan. I'll be patiently waiting for next year.

GM in Crisis?
Well, I'm almost done reading the World is Flat by Thomas Friedman. He did a tremendous job putting together some of the economic phenomenons that are occurring today and projecting these trends into the future. While many may scoff at his cataclysmic predicitions about the economic future of the US if we don't change our mental state about education and really working for our rewards the US will suffer. The current GM crisis has gotten me thinking.
A few years ago GM was the darling of the US auto industry and then Chrysler had its time in the spotlight. However, now GM is on the brink of collapse. UAW members clamoring for better benefits but they are unable to get them because the costs are too great for the automaker to pick up. A dull car line up doesn't help either. Clearance, red tag extravaganza, pay what we pay marketing isn't helping too. The exception is Cadilliac, who took a chance and it has paid off.
But, I think the major problem with US automakers is this, they are always a step behind. Toyota is primed to become the leading automaker in terms of volume and is alerady a great leader in quality. You don't see them doing crazy deals to get sales. They let their products sell themselves. US automakers don't need to lower price, they need to take a page from the Japanese. Build what we want! The American consumer will purchase it. Hell, we spend $350 on a purse and $250 on a pair of jeans we will purchase nice vehicles, but it has to be what we want.
Here's the kicker. Get this, I looked at the new Hyundai Sonota and I liked it. While it wouldn't win too many style points, it does all the right things well. Yeah, a friggin' Hyundai. The fastest growing auto company in the US is from Korea. If you think the competition is going to get easier think again; the Chinese are going to be jumping into the foray soon. This year they will showcase their first car at the Detroit Auto Show. While, the vehicle is simplistic and overall an okay car the Chinese can only do one thing - get better.
Okay, I'm criticizing the US auto industry, but I'm positive that these challenges will arise in other economic segments which the US has been the leader. So, how can we change this? This may sound unpatriotic but we need a crisis to come about. After 9/11, our country was unified to fight a single cause. I admit that the government and the President may have been over zealous at first, but we're seeing now a response in the US Congress and the people as they question some of these practices.
I'll like to make an analogy to control systems controlling water flow for a process. If we change the set point asking for more water the control system responds. Like any control model , the control system tries to find that new "stable" operating point, the reponse may be too much or too little water, but eventually it finds the correct operating value. Also, some control systems will respond quicker and find that new set point faster than other control models. The problem with the current US state of mind is that we're happy operating at our current set point. However, the world has changed and the set point is a new greater value. Other countries are racing to that new set point, while we're being lethargic - allowing our trusty old control system work. What this country could use is a disruption to our control model. So the disruption I mentioned earlier that would be unpatriotic is this - allow a major company like GM to fail, go bankrupt, disappear, go extinct, whatever you want to call it. Yes, this would cause major economic peril, but it might wake us up from our comas. Also, the remaining auto companies would swallow up the market share that was once GM's. I would bet that those that use to work for GM would work for Toyota, Hyundai, or the new Chinese auto company instead of being unemployeed.

Merry Christmas
Hey, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all those who didn't a get a card from me. haha! I hope you were all good boys and girls; Hopefully, Santa brought you what you wanted.
I was able to hang out with my sis and her husband, my parents and grandfather. I can't really ask for more than that. Of course, I won't lie, the gifts were good this year. I got some sweet clothes from my parents and sister, a new Snoopy book (yeah, I dig Snoopy! Wanna fight?), a Benjamin and an emergency road light.
All right, I'm tired. Peace out!

Crime and Redemption
I don't have much of an opinion on execution sentence of Stanely Tookie Williams. There are too many variables to weigh in to this complex scenario. Has this man found himself and is anew? Or is he trying to live another day? I agree the system is not 100% perfect in its rulings, but at the same time I believe that there would be a consensus that this system is preferential to other justice systems.
In the end, if he has committed no crime then he has nothing to fear before the judgement of his creator. I think this is a moral dilemna for a Christian. If a man is killed and is truly guilty then his punishment of death is a severe judgement but would pale in comparison to the Lord's wrath But if that man is innocent and executed then what does God feel about those that put that man to death?
I would like to clearly state that my opinion here is biased on a Christian view since I grew up with the belief in God. I'm curious how other cultures and religions view this type of predicament.

Crime Rises in Mount Vernon
Today, I was the victim of theft. UPS had dropped off my sister's Christmas gift and left it at my front door; this is pretty standard for most packages except those of high value. When I came home, I checked the tracking number and was suprised that the package was delivered earlier that morning. I asked my neighbor if they had seen my package; two of them said yes. I then reported the incident to my landlord. She didn't remember seeing any package while she was changing out my furnace filter and changing the battery in my smoke detector. I also file a police report for whatever that's worth. When the officer came to get my testimony, he can't remember hearing of such a case. Yeah, crime in Mount Vernon just doesn't happen. Actually, I think my older neighbors were more pissed than I was. Okay, I can't say that I was happy but it's better than getting robbed at gun point for a gift. So, I'll spend again and purchase the same gift again.
However, it does seem a little ironic of all the gifts I've purchased online, this is the first time this incident has occured. Hell, I lived in Norristown and nothing was ever taken. Peope were getting stabbed, bludgeoned to death, arrested for being suspected terrorist and drug dealers and a city major indicted for fraud, but nobody took your UPS package.
Winterized Apartment
To take my mind off the crime I went to Walmart and got some items to winterize my apartment. While my landlord is good about changing the furnace filter and changing batteries and light bulbs, she doesn't really care about insulation quality of the apartment. In my previous apartments, they were heated by boiler heat and I didn't have to pay for that service, but this apartment I have to pay for heat, so, having a stake in the insulation quality, I purchased some caulk, expandable foam insulation, and a plastic film indoor storm window package. I had a serious gaping hole in the room where my furnace is located. Yes, it is well ventilated, but there was this random hole that was open to the outside wall, plus some poor dry wall installation didn't help either. The heat shrink storm windows were kinda frustrating to put on because my windows are so friggin big, but I was able to get it done. I must say it does help quite a bit; while it won't replace a good argon filled double pane window, it should help reduce the heat loss. Oh, how much did I spend? Less than $20 for a chaulk gun, 1 bottle of chaulk, 1 can of foam insulation, and 1 package for the heat shrink plastic for the windows. I think that's a bargain.

Size Does Matter
When a girl says size doesn't matter, they're lying like crazy. Anyway, in the same scenario men will say the same thing about certain objects, one being the size of their tv. I don't really get it. Then today, I wished myself Merry Christmas. I hooked up my brand new Dell 2005FPW - 20 inch wide screen LCD monitor. Oh, baby! I wish though I could play Battlefield 2 on it. I'm having some difficulties right now. I'm not sure what's wrong with the program. I think it might be envious about the size.

Pretty Super
Okay, so I've talked about the SACD that I purchased before. I love Boston, yes, but I needed to truly experience SACD. Well, the choices are rather mild, but I was able to purchase Norah Jones' first album. I'm happy to say that music in 5.1 is good. I think I would need a better setup to totally experience all the nuances offered by this format, but overall I'm still pleased with listening to music in 5.1

Pinochole
I had a great Thanksgiving with my parents and grandpa. We had the traditional turkey with all the trimmings. I'm not sure why they call it trimmings though? Anyhoo, it was a nice time. We also had some time to drink the single malt scotch that I had purchased for my father and grandfather's birthday. I'm still not a scotch drinker though.
One of the highlights was playing pinochle with the family. Everyone should learn to play this game in addition to Euchre. Well, the game started early in the afternoon and we were locked at two games apiece. Then we had dinner. Well, after dinner we resumed playing. Another 2-2 tie. So we played the tie-breaking game. Most of the previous games the winner was decided pretty quickly, however, on the last hand of the game we (my mom and I) were up by just a few points. Luckily, during meld (betting) part of the hand, we smoked them. We were lucky to win the bid and called hearts as trump; We both had runs in hearts. If my dad or grandpa had picked trumped they would have called diamonds and the would have won. Okay, maybe this doesn't make sense to any of you because you don't play the game.
Well, get out there and learn.

Marathon
Tonight, I finished watching Marathon; it would be rather crass to say this movie is just about 26.2 miles (41.195 km). This movie touched me. I strongly recommend it everyone. There was one scene where the coach and the runner both feel the same sensation that running brings; where exhaustion equates to pure joy. Only a runner could appreciate that moment. There are several other moments that set my heart trembling because I could relate to him as a runner.
This movie is based on a twentysomething austic runner Bae Hyeong-Jin . At the ripe age of 21 he ran a marathon in 2:57:07. He is picture below with his mother (far left) and the President and First Wife of Korea. His accomplishment is wonderful.

Now, another word about marathons. They are not for everyone. It takes more than saying I want to run a marathon. I'm saying this because a few weeks ago at the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington DC, a charity group was disqualified because they transported some of their runners for 4 miles. I don't care who runs a marathon, but do the marathon; 26.2 miles. Be proud that you accomplished feat this by yourself.

OSU beats Michigan
I really can't put into words the anguish that I experienced today while watching my football team lose to their rival. Actually, I was quite pissed at the poor 4th quarter performance from the players, but more from the coaches. Sigh... 8-4. What a crappy record. Plus, Lloyd Carr is having trouble beating the OSU under coach Tressel. He has to get a better record or he will be like OSU's coach Cooper - out of a job.
Semi-Super
Yesterday, I purchased my first Super Audio CD (SACD). I purchased Boston's first album. Unfortunately, though it was mix in 2 channel stereo. Ok, first let me explain the benefits of SACD or DVD Audio. These two formats allow for a higher level of compression of more data on the disc resulting in higher fidelity. Music sounds more natural and dynamic. Also, most of these formats utilize 5.1 sound drenching the listner to high quality music. Well, as I said most utilize 5.1 channels, Boston's CD is one of the CD's that are mixed in 2 channel stereo. However, the sound is rather awesome compared to regular CD. I might purchase Norah Jone's Hybrid SACD (allows to be played on regular and SACD CD players) or Chuck Mangione's newest CD.

The Backlash
The current administration is under fire about the support for the war in Iraq. Their response of course is defensive stating that Democrat were shown the same information as the did. Yes, that is true. It is also true that former Secretary of State Powell presented to the United Nations about mobile biological warfare stations which I'm still waiting to see evidence of their existence. What it comes down to is this - when a "conflict" is issued, Congress is hard pressed to object. The opponents would be quickly criticized as un-patriotic, un-American, and what other un- words you can think of. Nevertheless, if some of these Democrats were so adamant to the war, why didn't they produced a document - sealed and notorized stating their opinion? Obiviously, this bickering is good television, but is it good for Democracy?

Random Stuff
So i've got a new dvd player now. It's region free allowing me to watch any movie from any country. The first movie I watched on it was Marathon, a Korean movie about an Autistic man who runs a marathon. Very cool. Plus he wears New Balance shoes as well. I also watched Steam Boy, a Japanese animated movie. It was a little strange, but fun to watch.
This past weekend I went out with my friends out to the Garden of the Gods in Shawnee National Forest. It was amazing. I think it was one of the first non-drinking, bar visiting activities we've had.
Finally, go out and read Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugnenides. Oh, by the way, I'm now reading the World is Flat by Thomas Friedman.

Get the Ratings
This morning the local radio station 96.1 was talking about the relief programs that are under way help those effected by the tornado. He evened mentioned that the storm didn't discriminate against anyone. Phew, thanks goodness. There's nothing I hate more than racist tornados. Come on people, it's okay to be creative when describing a disaster. I even accept when people make claims that a storm's behavior seems to have a mind of its own; but to personify a natural disaster to the point that it has the ability to choose a certain class in society to wreck havoc on is a little far-fetched.

Random Tornado
Evansville usually doesn't make any headlines in Indiana let alone the country. However, last night at 2:20 AM a tornado formed caused by an severe isolated storm. They haven't put a dollar figure to the destruction; currently over 150 homes from a trailer park community have been destroyed, in addition, the new township, Newburgh was struck. Luckily for me, I live 20 miles from this area. Here in Mount Vernon, we had some wind and rain. Thanks to all those who called to make sure I was okay. I'm glad that I didn't go to the city last night to party like I usually do.

Bell's, How I Love Thee
Today, I splurged and bought some beer from my favorite company, Bell's. It's a microbrew beer company from Kalazmazoo, Michigan. Normally, I don't care what type of beer I drink, but once in a while it's nice to have a real beer. I love Bell's beer and they cost a few more dollars than regular beer, however, it's worth it. Most 6 packs cost between $7-9.
However, they have a new marketing trick. They're making even more special microbrews. Today, I bought their limited edition 7,000 batch beer. It cost a whopping $18+ for 6 bottles, but it's worth every penny. First, it has a distinct flavor, rich and malty. It has a nice kick afterwards. Plus, the 12% alcohol content is probably one of the highest I've seen in a normal brewed beer. If you get a chance, try it!

Mini-SubToday, I received my new Velodyne subwoofer. I tested out the little sub using Saving Private Ryan as one of my standard; iit did pretty well. I have to check it against other DVDs before I make a final decision, but it shows great promise in this area. I haven't check it with any decent CDs, however, I have a strong suspicion this sub is best for music. Nevertheless, look at the foot print of the SPL1000 compare to my broken JBL DPS-12. I'm willing to compromise. Also, by the way, the little guy weighs more than the big guy.

Temporarily Famous
After my half marathon a couple of weeks ago, the photographer from the local paper captured a picture of me sleeping on the sidewalk. Hey, I just finished a half marathon and a few more miles to cool down. Plus, I had over 2 hours to kill before the awards ceremony. Give me a break. ^^; Let's just say everyone at work had something to talk about that Monday morning.

Michigan Wins!
Okay, after 6 crappy games, Michigan actually came out and played a little ball. Since the game wasn't televised here in Southern Indiana, I was forced to watch "live" play calls on ESPN's game day. The game came down to 4 and 4 on the Penn State 10 with one second left, Michigan down 21 to 25; I was mashing the hell out of the button on my mouse to refresh the computer screen. I was very nervous because nothing was happening - too much time had lapsed, (Damn! Henne has gone ostrich again and stuck his head up his ass, got sacked and Michigan lost again. Damn!) However, the screen refreshed and holy penis, the score changed..Michigan won 27 - 25. I started screaming like a girl in my apartment. Oh, I love this game. I live for these moments!

Broadband Upgrade
I've upgrade my hardware again. Now, I have a new D-link cable modem; the previous RCA modem was starting to reset itself all the time. I really don't know why though. I've also gone wireless. Now I can work at home all the time; yes, this means pooping and doing work. Now, that's what I call real productivity...

19thI finished 19th today at the Evansville Half Marathon. Plus I ran a nice time 1:22:00. My body feels pretty good albeit a little soreness in my left knee. I'm sure this is the result from my ankle injury last year. I'm going to see a podiatrist to see if I'm running oddly.
Oh, I almost forgot another injury - chaffed nipples. Yes, my left nipple is sore like a mother. This is a common running injury. However, today I saw the strangest sight, a man running with a large blood stain on his shirt where his nipple was. He must have torn the damn thing off if you saw the amount blood lost on his running singlet. I cheered for him as he was approaching the 13 mile marker. However, after he passed me, I looked over to one of the volunteers and we both made this face of pain and awe.
Back to volunteers and community support, there were quite a few of people out to support the runners: your local high school band, middle school cheerleaders, small high school rock bands, a lady playing the polka on an accordian, and a man playing a harmonica in a tuxedo. There were other supporters, for example, this lady that was wearing ass-less chaps. Yes, nothing more motivating then this. Luckily, this is her good side.

Half Marathon
Tomorrow is the Evansville half marathon. I'm pretty excited. I'm confident that my training will pay off. Hopefully, I won't get injured while running the course.
Next, what's more pressing is, "What the hell is up with Michigan football?" The 3-3 is the worst record ever for the month of October. What? Yes, you heard right. With over 100 years of football under Michigan's belt, this year's team totally stinks. Hopefully, Coach Carr will get the team going or everyone in Ann Arbor will be going crazy (in a bad way)!
One of my new favorite desserts is ice cream covered with Fuity Pebbles and chocolate syrup. It's yummy.

Battlefield 2
Tonight, I downloaded the new patch for Battlefield 2, the game which I've spent approximately 60 hours of my life playing. It totally sucks because it's made the game easier for noobs. Yes, I said noobs. The smacktards that run around and can't shoot for shit. Before, you actually had to work to get a higher rank. Now, they give them out all the time. You can't figure out if they're good or if they suck. I've lost some respect for this game. Oh, well, XBox 360 is coming out soon. I love the girls of DOA.

Destiny??
This past Friday, I didn't do a darn thing. I did laundry instead. Oh, yeah, nothing more exciting than separating your darks from your whites. Okay, I did talk to this older woman; yes, I like older woman. However, this one was old enough to be my mother. Anyhoo, she gave me some pointers on how much soap to add to those gigantic washers. Hey, how the hell am I suppose to know. The stupid directions just tell me to add soap when the "Add bleach" light goes on. Yeah, don't try to figure it out. Well, I thought simple math would do, the machine is 3X as large as a regular washer, add 3X the soap. This lady was nice enough to warn me that I was about to add too much soap. The weird thing happened on Saturday when I went to Target. She was there. I was like, "Hey! Nice to see you again." Ummm yeah, that's it. That was the excitement here in Southern Indiana. Anyone that wants to visit me feel free. However, I have this odd hunch I'm going to meet the Laundry lady again. Help me! ^^

Opera
Let the browser wars begin again. Sigh. The choices for users are endless. There's Firefox (my baby for the moment), IE 7 (not out yet, but it will be a contender when it does), and now Opera. Opera? Yeah, this past week, the company has brought Opera 8 to users for free. They use to charge people. Is it good? Well, I've played with it for a few days and it hasn't pulled me away from Firefox. I suggest all my friends use Firefox. Make sure you get some of the extensions for adblock, RSS reader, and tab controls. Okay, I'm a dork. Ahhh!!!!

NYC Again
I had a great week/weekend when I traveled to Pittsfield, MA to meet the other people in the OMLP program. The daily talks from the leaders of our business was informative and motivating. I hope I can accomplish the goals General Electric has set upon me.
One of days, we took a bus to New York City, where I took some fun pictures with my cell phone. Don't diss the quality. It's the best it can do!
Of course New Yorkers have some serious money and why not spend it on some sweet cars. I'm not talking about BMWs 7 series and Mercedes S class. I'm talking about some hand made cars. Actually, the Maserati Coupe ($85,000) and the Bentley Continental GT ($150,000) are peanuts compared to this gorgeous 2005 Rolls-Royce Phantom. Yeah, it cost more than the other two cars combines. Yeah, if you have a $330,000 laying around pick up this gem of car. This is the closest I'll ever get to this car. The chauffeur was nice enough to let me sit in the back seat. Oh, yeah, that's another incured cost, the chauffeur.

One of the stranger encounters inf NYC was the promotion by Saks Fifth Avenue. This lady and guy was walking around the city with two goats. Okay, they're not regular goats, but the kind that are used to make cashmere products. The lady was walking the goats; people came up to her to talk about the goats. On the other hand, the guy walked behind the goats picked up their crap - literally. Go figure, look at my picture and see what's important... the goats and the girl. Sorry dude!

Finally, I was able to spot one of my favorite sculptures. It's Joan Miro's Lunar Bird. It's very cool and it makes me smile every time I see it. His paintings are fun too.

What is this?
Can anyone identify this object? Well, those who watch Food network possibly have an advantage, especially if they watch Good Eats with Alton Brown. This is his salt cellar. It's much cooler than average salt pigs and the such. It has a nice lid unlike salt pigs which are open to the air. Anyway, I'm super pumped about seasoning my food. Actually, I used it tonight! Woohoo, I'm a dork! Hell, make that a capital D - Dork!

Robot Chicken
If anyone has time, make sure you check out Robot Chicken on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. It's freakin' hilarious! The low down: funny doll, clay, toy animation from the old school days. The only problem is that it's only 15 minutes long. However, it's worth staying up late to catch this great little ditty.

Remembering 4 years ago
Today, the country remembered the tragedy that occured in our nation 4 years ago. However, I find it somewhat sad that our nation hasn't really changed too much since then. While 9/11 showed the flaws in our government in preventing acts of terror, Hurricane Katrina has shown the flaws the government has in responding to a crisis. The country remains incredibley divided and I think the current federal response has the potential to further polarize the country.

Couchless? I think not.

After a countless number of days, I have received my new couch. I love it. It's been worth the wait. Now, I need to get some extra pillows. However, I realized how much I like the color blue. So, this couch is blue. Okay, no biggie. Then if you look at my bathroom, it's blue as well. Then in the kitchen, I have some blue glasses and other accent pieces. Okay, now I have too much blue. However, I'm going to change the colors in the kitchen. I'm thinking about warm colors - oranges and reds. Alright, I have way too much time.

I forgot to mention this before. I'm not sure why I didn't write about this before because I was traumatized by the event. I was in the bathroom, doing the duty while sitting on the toilet. I'll be nice leave out the details of the struggle here. For some reason, I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I looked over and peered near the waste basket. Then I saw it - it jumped again. When it jumped I jumped off the toilet as well, nearly falling into my bath tub. All I can say is that I'm glad I was doing my duty because it would have gotten messy. So I quickly reached for my toilet brush and with my pants around my ankle I hunted this thing. I was sure it was a cockroach, but then I realized that cockroaches don't jump.
I started poking around the waste basket again and then I got my first clear view of my pest. It was this brown bug with really long antennae. I didn't know what it was so I smooshed it with the toilet brush. Then I finished my duty and washed my hands.
So have you ever heard of a camel cricket? I started doing some research on Google for grasshoppers in Indiana and eventually I found a website that told me that I had a camel cricket in my apartment. I've never seen these insects before, but I'm happy to learn about them now. I'm not sure how it got into my apartment, but I'm relieved they're harmless.

A new era...
It has been reported that Chief Justice Rehnquist has passed away. The impact of his death will reverbrate through Congress as well as the Bush administration tomorrow and the future. While there was debate over the first nomination candidate to replace Justice O'Connor, I truly believe we will see greater scrutiny over the new candidate. The balance of the Supreme Court will be decided by the new candidate. Of course, the core issues will come up - abortion, marriage (sexual orientation), and ethnicity. I'm not sure how the Supreme Court became such a political sphere since its primary function is to be a check on the Executive Branch by interpreting the law based on the Constitution.
I'll be following this one closely.

I'm back!!
My computer is working again. I'm now the proud owner of a new Nvidia 6600 GT graphics card. However, the greatest toy is that my keyboard and mouse that are wireless. I love my new Logitech MX 3100 set. I totally recommend it. The mouse will take some time getting use to though.
I've already stress tested my equipment by kicking some ass on Battlefield 2. Oh, yeah - BRING IT!!!

Korean Animated Movie
So a recent movie caught my eye on the New York Times website. It is about a girl, Shim Chung, who gives up her life to a sea dragon so her father can regain his vision - in the end she is granted to become an empress.
I've actually read this folk tale along with a bunch of other Korean folk tales. I'm curious to watch it. Anyone seen it yet?
Oh, I forgot to mention the title of the movie - Empress Chung.

Crappy 9800 Pro
I have to admit that I'm addicted to electronics and once I begin working on them I really have a difficult time stopping. Tonight I got a new graphics card to replace the one I destroyed. I won't go into how I did that. Let's just say that I was reckless. However, It's way past my bedtime and I'm still trying to get this damn thing to work. I can't figure out where the purple lines are coming from. Well, forget this. I need to go to bed so I can get up and go running. Later.

A Company that Stands Behind Their Product Line
Okay, in this disposable world you'd hope that if you spent a little more money that you would get a better product. This mantra doesn't always hold true, but once in a while you get a company that has a decent warranty policy and they stand behind it.
For example, I purchased a knife set from Wusthof Trident 4 years ago. This year I noticed that the 8" chef's knife was getting some spots on it. It was some type of corrison and pitting. I thought it was a little strange so I contacted customer service. They asked me what I did with my knives and at first I was a little appalled. I'm not one of those who mistreat their knives thinking they were screw drivers, hammers, or who knows what else. Nevertheless, I understand their questioning, so I sent them some pictures of the problem. A couple days later they sent me an email and told me that they would send me a new knife.
It was nice to see a warranty honored without a ton of hassle.

No Korean Food for You
Okay, yesterday I had dinner at this restaurant to eat some supposedly Korean food. However, let me warn you that this place states that it serves, Korean, Italian, and American foods. My hopes weren't high. Actually, the food didn't taste like Korean food at all. The only thing that did taste Korean was the Kimchee, which cost $2.25 extra. Can you believe that? I'm sure that my Korean friends are laughing that I paid extra for it. Luckily, the one thing I did get out of the meal was the only place in Evansville that sells some Korean products. This nice little Chinese store sells some Korean food and thank goodness they had kimchee.
When I got back home I did a quick search to find the closest Korean grocery store. I have to drive to Louisville, Kentucky (two and half hours away) to Choi's Grocery Store. Sigh...I'll have to stock up on Korean food when I go to Michigan to see family or when I see friends on the East Coast.

Yummy Fruit
So today, I went into "the city" to do some shopping. Yes, I made a day of it while I was there. Stopping at various stores and picking up some stuff for my apartment. While driving I saw a stand where a woman and her son were selling vegatables and fruit. I stopped to take a look. Of course, they only had produce that is in season. What I realized is this: Could we forget what a vegatable and fruit truly looks and taste like? A couple of nights ago I went to the regular chain grocery store to buy groceries. Well, this store was selling fruit and I wanted some. So, I picked up a peach and it was hard like a rock, but it didn't have an scent. Seriously, it was just this imposter was posing like a peach, but it wasn't was peach.
Subsequently, today at the local farmer's stand I picked up one of the peaches from the basket and the first thing I noticed was that it was firm, but still soft. I could feel fuzzy skin. To my dismay, I totally forgot about that quality. Then the smell test; the fragrance told me that I didn't have to worry about it tasting like nothing.
Yeah, I admit it, I was excited to come home and eat one. Am I weird? Maybe, but at least I know I'm eating real vegatables and fruits out here in Mt. Vernon.

Korean Men and Video Games...
Today, a 28 year old man died in Korea after playing video games for nearly 50 hours. He quit his job so he could spend more time video games. All I can say is "What the hell?" I'm not making this up. Why did he do this? I don't have a clue, but maybe his girlfriend broke up with him.
In the US, men drink their sorrows away after their girlfriend breaks up with them. Maybe in Korea men play their lives away in front of the computer. Then again, maybe he didn't have a girlfriend so he had to role play online.

This past weekend I drove up to Michigan to see my friend Michelle Wu get married. It was a nice ceremony and the reception at the Peking House was equally good. Weddings are fun to attend because it's a great chance to meet old friends.
A highlight during the wedding ceremony was when Michelle was asked to say her vows. She was caught up in the moment and had to ask the pastor to repeat a wedding phrase again. It was funny.
On a side note, throughout the night the dudes were quoting from the movie Wedding Crashers. Also, it was fun calling Han out by simply yelling out "Dick!" Well, he refused to pick up his cell phone when we saw him in Royal Oak so we rolled down the window and had to get his attention.
Hopefully, I'll get some pictures from those attending the wedding and I'll post them.

Mt. Vernon
Well, I'm finally here in the great little town of Mt. Vernon; current population is 7,478. I have to give a great big thanks to Sara for accompanying me on my trip and hauling all my stuff into my apartment. My apartment is still a mess, but I hope to remedy that by the end of this week.
Anyway, my work at GE has been a little slow because my computer is lost somewhere and I can't get my ID card yet. Nevertheless, I've met some of the people I'll be interacting with for the next year.
Finally, I just have to say,"It's friggin' hot outside." Sheesh.
One more thing, if you're curious about the title of my blog, you have to watch Entourage on HBO.

NYC Fun
Yesterday, I travelled to New York City to visit my post adoption social worker, ShinHye Kang. She's very cool and chic eventhough she's *ahem* older. I think we had fun while looking like tourists. We visited the Met and had a nice boat ride on "the Lake" in Central Park. While strolling around the park we found these two creative teenagers that were selling a cool service. Their uncle had purchased two Segways and now the two teenage boys were renting the Segways for a few of minutes for $2. I must admit that I was at first a little hesitant when I first rode that contraption, however, you pick it up quite fast. After, spending some time in Central Park, we went to the movie theater to watch Wedding Crashers. While I thought there were some great moments by Vince Vaughn and Own Wilson, I could tell by ShinHye's face that she was a little lost about the movie - too much slang in the dialogue.
Afterwards, we had a couple of beers near 70 St. at this shady looking bar. Inside, bras were strewn around the rafters and in one corner there was a tall dark brown wooden bear standing on its rear legs. I really didn't understand the decor, but the Brooklyn Lager and Stella Atrois was tasty, so it was all good. Then we scurried downtown (after we went the wrong way. Okay, I went the wrong way and dragged her with me. ) to have a nice meal at Mesa Grill.
